period of the postal workers strike.
Karl Pountney, the owner of the family run business, Uncles Pawnbrokers said,
“I know only too well of the difficulties many people will face due to delays to the postal system. A lot of our business is driven by cheques being late in the post and I expect
there will be hardship as a result of the current action.”
For the period the postal workers are on strike Karl has given a guarantee to slash his interest rates to anyone facing difficulties. He says, “My business is largely run on trust. Karl adds, “On a £100 loan our normal charges are the equivalent of less than the price of a pint of beer a week. During the postal strike, for the first month I am cutting that to less than the price of half a pint!. So if you borrow £100, that’s less than a fiver for the first month. Pro rata this offer is good for sums up to £250. You’ll be very lucky to get a better deal anywhere else, certainly not even with the banks.”
