Did you know we loan against –
Rolex watches?
In fact, we guarantee short term loans
using Rolex watches as security!
Rolex’s are one of the most common watches that
people choose to pawn when they need to raise
money fast. This is because the brand is well known
and as such these watches are easy to value by the
skilled eye of the Uncles valuation team.
In the books written by Ian Fleming, James Bond
always wore a Rolex. However, in 1962 during the
making of the first ever James Bond film, Dr. No, it is
rumoured that Rolex refused to provide the film crew
with a watch. However in keeping in line with the book’s
character, the producer, Cubby Broccoli, volunteered the
use of his own Rolex to the then James Bond, Sean Connery.
It was a Submariner with a black crocodile strap and it was this
watch that proved to be the ideal match for the sophisticated
special agent for many years to come.
When Sean Connery was replaced by Roger Moore, in a bid to update the James Bond
character, Q issued the new Bond with a Seiko digital watch. This relationship did not last long however, and after just five films James Bond was reunited with his classic Rolex Submariner, only to be replaced a few years later with the current Omega Seamaster .
